DEFINITION OF E-COMMERCE

WHAT IS E-COMMERCE?

(McKenna , 2023)

E-commerce, short for electronic commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over electronic networks, mainly the internet (Zygmont & Smith, 2015). E-commerce has revolutionized the way businesses and consumers interact, allowing for 24/7 access to products and services, and facilitating transactions across borders and time zones. It encompasses a wide range of activities, from online retailing and digital marketplaces, to online banking and digital content distribution. E-commerce also enables new forms of business models, such as the sharing economy and online marketplaces. The development of mobile devices and the internet has made e-commerce more accessible to consumers and businesses.
